good morning, don't cop out
in what little free time i do have - and it really is little time, although once i get the momentum going i like to keep myself busy - i've been cooking for myself a lot. did i mention i've since gone vegetarian? i was pretty well on the slope for the last couple of years, but i finally made the total plunge a month ago, for my health's sake. (seriously, every morning i take a multivitamin plus zinc and a b75 complex. without divulging too much on my part, i actually have a pretty aggravating health problem that can and will be recurring if i don't take care of myself properly.)
anyway, so far i've made a totally bitchin' chickpea-and-mushroom curry with wild rice, and a whole-wheat couscous dish topped with mediterranean vegetables mixed with paprika and cayenne pepper. then last week, using my magic bullet - get your minds out of the gutter, it's a wacky blender apparatus my mother got me for christmas last year - i made a smoothie out of blueberries, peaches, mango, vanilla rice milk, plain nonfat yogurt, manuka honey and ground flaxmeal. is it any wonder i once wanted to go to george brown college to become a chef? i love this shit, dudes.
having speaking from being in the co-managerial position, i think this may be a bad idea. but if it were to happen in any music scene, it'd be the uk.
also only in the uk: musicians like pete doherty. i love that guy. rock stars are wacky celebrities again!
the new order battle: now fought through badly-spelled blog entries. i like the "love hookyx" at the end. oh, the snark, it burns like fire.
speaking of barely-concealed snark, britney's officially single again, but i can't really think of anyone who'd consider her much of a prize. well, her millions of dollars maybe, but that's hollywood for you. another reason why i assume i'd love los angeles but detest the fakeness of hollywood.
fakeness of the breast sort: scarlett johansson to play jenna jameson in biopic. man, did anyone else read charles aaron's spin article where he called for the end of actors pretending to be musicians? classic. (scarlett was, of course, the main example, given her brief but apparently terrible guest spot with the jesus and mary chain onstage at this year's coachella)
and now for two shoutouts: happy birthday yesterday to allegra (hope the party was everything you expected, minus any drunken debauchery ;)) and also awesome friend amanda (who probably did do the drunken debauchery), and a fond farewell to dear jenna, who's leaving for a month in england tomorrow before flying right out to vancouver for good. the girl's been one of my best friends for the last two years and it's hard to contemplate how many people here are going to miss her.
in better news, halo brother adam may be coming to my city this week (which may or may not affect my plans to head down to chicago for the long weekend; either way, i get to see him, which is 80% of what i really wanted anyway). this brings on the exciteable little-girl delight.

Thanks, Caitlin! My party was actually exactly what I wanted - very low-key and casual.
Also, how much do I love the mix you made me? SO much. A lot of what you included is more rockin' than what I usually listen to, but I love it. Thanks for coming, Caitlin, even though I know you felt kind of awkward sometimes.
