live through this
me: "...i think i have commitment issues."
stepdad: "no, you just have f.o.r.: fear of reality."
ain't that the truth. (don't ever let me join/form a rock band, k?)
okay! so now, new dilemma: trying to make this blog more than just "caitlin's record of the process of moving to a completely different province on the other side of the country". in case you hadn't noticed already, when it comes to writing about my personal life in here, i tend to talk most about whatever's preoccupying me at the moment. and this? uh, only my biggest undertaking in the last five years. it's almost overwhelmingly scary. but it's getting done -- no matter what, my tenure is toronto is almost finished. i need to move on, kids.
in the meantime, what's in the pop culture news these days:
the big revelation this morning was that my love of pretty boys can be explained scientifically! it just makes so much sense! awesome.
chart editor noah went to lolla last weekend and here's his review: day one and two (presumably day three will be coming soon). i like this year's report better than last year's, but that might be because i'm trying to live vicariously by reading the reviews. i actually got to be there last year :(
the `fork versus paul banks. he sounds like a gruff, curmudgeonly bastard, and i love that.
i was up reading this article way past midnight yesterday. the record label i work for - well, for another eight days anyway - is nothing so cutthroat or evil as that, thank the gods, but i can see how it'd happen in this industry. and how easily. all the more reason for me to get out while i can and go back to my usual observing as a journalist and experiencing as a fangirl.
haha, uh, "exhaustion"? riiight. skeletal anorexia is more like it. very sad, when you think about it.
torontonians need to attend this because i can't, since i'm working all day saturday. but c'mon, do it for the kitties! if i'd known about annex cat rescue back when i'd been living in the annex, i would've been there to help out as much as humanly possible. i have a deathly weak spot for cats. kittens make me melt into a pile of unintelligible, baby-talking goo. (i hate children and most people in general, really, so i transfer my love onto animals)
kill hannah's in town this weekend. i plan on attempting to lure them out for drinks.
more quick self-indulgent non-move-related blather: this is going to be my halloween costume this year (complete with little hat, holy fuck do i ever want that hat), and i am currently all about this cafe. their website's sparse, yeah, but trust me -- holy fucking coffee nirvana. not to mention super-nice staff of the genuine sort that you don't usually find shilling lattes (trust me, i speak from experience). they even made me a bombay fog (a concoction of chai tea, cinnamon syrup and steamed milk) when i asked! brilliant. if you're a fellow east-sider, go visit. that's an order. (hell, i'll even take some of you there in my final weeks as a torontonian...)
