turn on the sun

out of sheer boredom and partial curiousity, i signed up for twitter yesterday. it's a program like the "status updates" on facebook that allows you to update your audience on your life and thoughts -- in only 140 letters. and it can be done by text message. in other words, perfect for the a.d.d.-affected egomaniacs like yours truly. (i mean, i have a hard time understanding why anyone besides my friends would even want to read this blog -- why would anybody want to read a bazillion one-sentence updates on my life throughout the day? regardless, it's some seriously addictive fun)

anyway, my twitter updates yesterday were mostly about the marilyn manson/slayer concert last night, which was all kinds of brutally fucking awesome. i think i liked manson a bit more, because i'm more into the vampy goth rock right now (and i'd forgotten how awesome a single "mobscene" is), but i'll easily admit that i was a teenage metalhead, so i howled and headbanged to slayer along with everybody else. what a fucking crushing wall of sound! i think "reign in blood" decimated the eardrums of pretty much everybody within a thirty-foot radius of the stage. forget turning it up to 11, they turned it up to 666.

review on chartattack sometime early next week. i kinda gotta find the time this weekend to write the damn thing first.

first, though, proper respect must be given to tony wilson, who died from kidney cancer complications yesterday. anybody who's seen 24 hour party people - those who've seen it as many times as i have notwithstanding - will know how big of a blow this is to the music world. r.i.p. (stephen morris of new order and joy division pays tribute)

the cure's pushed back their album again, which shouldn't come as any surprise to their acolytes. i'm seeing them live this fall not once but twice (the second one falls on my 24th birthday! in vancouver! birthday and the cure in vancouver!), so i'll be placated. ooooh.

eddie vedder got censored! probably the biggest thing you could do to piss off the jam man.

the baconator is a hoax! adam is weeping somewhere in chicago. my poor brother.

my newest daily reading: beyond robson. not updated as often as blogto, but still worthwhile for use in keeping up with my soon-to-be new home. justin also alerted me to metroblogging vancouver, which will also probably serve me well.

here at my still-current home of toronto, taste of the danforth's on and i can't go, because i'm working all weekend then spending tomorrow trying to lure out a beloved rock band :( well, i guess pretty rockstar boys for baklava is an even tradeoff.
